Integrated Cantilever and Pallet Rack Storage System

Location: Atlanta, GA
Date: October 14, 2023
Project Type: Dual-System Storage Installation Supporting Long and Palletized Material

Client Background

A warehouse operation in Atlanta, GA required an integrated storage solution to accommodate both oversized long‑length materials and conventional palletized inventory. The customer faced increasing product diversity and needed a system that improved access, organization, and staging efficiency without sacrificing throughput capacity or forklift maneuverability.

Project Overview

The objective of this installation was to implement dual storage systems capable of serving separate material handling requirements while operating within a unified facility footprint. The cantilever configuration needed to support long materials with rigid structural alignment, while the pallet rack areas needed to provide reliable multi‑level capacity for high‑rotation palletized goods.

Project Challenges

  1. The customer required a mixed storage solution that could handle both oversized materials and standard pallets without creating congestion.

  2. Cantilever stability needed to support elongated materials without lateral movement or sagging.

  3. Pallet rack elevations and aisle spacing required optimization to preserve forklift access and maintain throughput efficiency.

  4. System integration needed to ensure seamless material handling transitions across both storage formats.

Solution and System Implementation

Bogardus provided and installed a fully integrated setup consisting of both cantilever and pallet rack systems. Implementation included:

  • Sixteen‑foot cantilever towers

  • Forty‑eight‑inch arms

  • H and X bracing to reinforce structural rigidity and load resistance

  • Sixteen‑foot pallet rack uprights

  • Eight‑foot beams configured for multi‑level storage

The cantilever system was positioned to support oversized material handling while maintaining open travel lanes for forklift access. Pallet racking was installed to provide vertical storage capacity without impeding cantilever access or staging areas. Alignment, anchoring, and elevation consistency were verified to ensure safe and predictable load performance.

Results and Outcomes

  • The facility achieved a blended storage environment that improved accessibility for long materials while maintaining efficient pallet staging.

  • Handling efficiency increased due to organized system separation, reduced congestion, and improved forklift routing.

  • System stability and bracing configurations provided long‑term durability and reduced material handling risk.

  • Throughput performance improved as pallet rack elevations and clearances were optimized to support continuous operational flow.

Long‑Term Impact

The unified system enabled the warehouse to operate multiple material categories within a single footprint while preserving flexibility for evolving storage demands. The dual‑system layout improved staging organization, minimized handling inefficiencies, and created a scalable infrastructure capable of supporting expanding inventory profiles without reconfiguration.

Please provide the next project from Batch 2 when you're ready, and I will continue with the identical structure and tone.
